ROSE KNOWLES WHITE
We remember, our beloved Foundation Member, Rose Knowles White. Rose Knowles White was not only a strong women, sister and friend but a dedicated city, parish, state educator, member, volunteer and community activist.
An educator in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System for 36 years; serving at Eden Park, White Hills, Nicholson, South Boulevard Elementary Schools. Rose Knowles White was named 1995 East Baton Rouge Parish "Teacher of the Year".
Continuing to educate young minds after retirement, she taught at the Baton Rouge Career Solution Literacy & GED Initiative in Scotlandville and also led the Village of Hope Ministry tutoring program.
She served as a member of First Presbyterian Church of Scotlandville for 15 years, later transferring membership and serving at Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church until her homegoing.
Rose as we affectionately called her, held local, state & national offices in the Elks (IBPOEW) PBS Pinchback Temple #1107 and in 2011 received the Silver Magnolia Community Service Award from the Women's Council of Baton Rouge.
Foundation Member Rose Knowles White was a Sorority Member with sixty five (65) years of service to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
